Make the location useful to a customer
A Birmingham customer needs to understand what you do, where you work and how to contact you. A Jewellery Quarter adviser, a Hall Green shop and a contractor visiting homes across the city should each make those practical details clear.
State the actual base and service area. Do not turn a broad Birmingham coverage claim into imaginary branches, and explain when visits are by appointment or work takes place at the customer’s property.
Submit a complete local profile
Birmingham Directory accepts free Standard listing submissions for review. Search for an existing record first, then supply your trading name, website, phone, accurate location and a natural description of your main services. Select the category and tags that best match the work.
Use an email you control for listing-management messages and choose a clear image or logo you have permission to publish. Avoid filling the description with repeated neighbourhood names or claims that customers cannot verify.
Keep other profiles accurate and consistent
Google Business Profile may be useful for an eligible business that meets customers in person. Its rules cover names, addresses, service areas and verification, so check them before setting up a profile or changing an existing one.
Keep the core trading name, phone and website consistent with your own site and relevant directories. Specialist trade or community listings can add context where customers actually use them; volume alone is not a substitute for useful information.
Use local support and review the details
Birmingham City Council publishes business and licensing information, while the Business & IP Centre network provides a route to library-based business resources. Check the current offer and eligibility before relying on a particular programme.
Update your profile when your address, contact route or service changes. A complete listing helps customers assess whether to enquire, but neither directory inclusion nor a Featured upgrade guarantees leads or a particular search-engine position.
